Murphy
1 year 1 month old
American Cocker/Brittany Spaniel

Hi there everyone! Murphy here, the sweetest, cutest, happiest little guy you've ever seen! I'm a one year old, housebroken, crate trained, Cocker/Brittany mix. It's a wonderful combination, as you can probably tell from my picture, and I have the most adorable freckles. I'm smart, fun, and active. I love to chase balls. I'm playful, my tail wags all the time, and life makes me smile!

I've been at Wayside twice now in my short life. The first time, I was a puppy and my owners had too many dogs. I was adopted by a nice family, but they had to move and couldn't take me along. So here I am homeless again, through no fault of my own! This time I need a forever family who is willing to make a commitment to me for the long haul. That's not too much to ask is it? No, it's not too much to ask, it's what I deserve. A happy and secure home where I'm valued and loved.

There are a couple things about me that the Wayside staff want to be sure you know about up front. For one, I'm deaf. If you've ever lived with a deaf dog, you already know that we are able to get along very well without our hearing. And I know lots of commands in sign language. I know "sit", "stay", "release", and "quiet". Be sure to ask the Wayside Adoptions Counselor how to communicate these things to me.

And secondly, I am a little possessive about my things. My food, toys, treats...I don't like to share them and I don't like anyone messing with them. This really isn't a big issue, once we get home and into our routine. Because of this, though, I'd do best in a home without kids under the age of 15. And if you have another dog at home, they will need to understand to stay away from my stuff. For some dogs this is no big deal at all, but I just wanted you to know about it before we get home. Wayside has some amazing trainers available who would be happy to help you help me.

I hope you're still reading and that you're thinking about giving me my second chance! I won't let you down, I promise. I'm a joyful dog and I'm so darn cute that you can't help smiling at me. I'm only around 20 pounds, so I fit perfectly on your lap or by your side, if you'd like to cuddle at the end of a long day. But don't get me wrong, I'm not a lap dog! My breeds are sturdy and athletic. We love to run and play! I'm very smart. I'm eager to learn new things and I'm eager to please you, a fantastic combination. And like I mentioned, I'm already housebroken and crate trained.

I'm looking for a happy, active, fun life. I'm looking for someone to love me for who I am. I'm looking for people who see me as a family member for life. And I hope you have plenty of patience and love to give too. Me? Heck, I'll give you all I have. I'll try to make your life better just by having me in it. That's what I'll do.

Sir Fancy Pants
4 years 1 month old
Domestic Longhair/mix

Sir Fancy Pants is my name and my fluffy britches help me live up to my name. I am a long haired cream tabby who came to Wayside as a stray.

I was knighted as the fanciest cat Wayside has seen in a fortnight. Being a knight and all, I will strut around the house in with my Fancy Pants and rule the roost. I am a big fluff ball at heart though and love to be scratched behind my ears.

Being a long haired cat, I will need extra brushing to keep my coat nice and silky smooth but being a Knight cat and all, I would expect nothing less. You can even pick up a brush for me at Whiskers and Wags when you come to adopt me.

So come into Wayside today and meet me, everyone needs a knight in shinning armor.

Adoption fee: $50

Sam
8 years old
Labrador Retriever/mix

Hi there! Sam here. Happy, fun, playful, super handsome Sam. That's me. I'm an 8 year old, smart as a whip, loving Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix and I'm searching for a new home. Boy am I ever. I need you to come and get me and make me part of the family. You won't be sorry if you let me into your life, I can guarantee you that. I haven't been here long, but the volunteers have already fallen for me. One volunteer took me out to play just the other day and when she brought me back to my kennel, she whispered to me that spending time with me just made her feel good. How's that for a vote of confidence?

My story is sort of a sad one, but I realize that life can't be all happy times, so I do the best with the hand I've been dealt. My owner recently passed away and no one else in the family was able to take care of me. I am very unsure of life here at Wayside and truth be told, I'm lonely too!

Here's what I have to offer. This I am sure of. I'm energetic, happy, strong, sweet, and smart. I am so full of life that you will think someone miscalculated my age. I love to run the fence with the dogs on the other side at the dog park. I love going for walks. I have extra shiny white teeth and soft brown eyes. My tail wags all the time. Even though I have lived my life outdoors, I am now staying inside in my kennel, yet I know to go to the bathroom as soon as I get outside. I know how to sit and wait patiently for my treats. I'm gentle and cuddly and soft.

I'm sure you've noticed my age and the fact that my adoption fee is half price because of my senior status. Don't let a number fool you though! I am full of life and I am ready to live each day full of appreciation and passion. I love to run and play and snuggle. I haven't slowed down at all. I hope you don't pass me by because of my age. If you do, I think you might regret it at some point in time.

There are a few things on my wish list for my new home. I need someone with patience as I transition from my past life as an outdoor dog to my new life as an involved and true member of the family. I dream of love, encouragement, and positive reinforcement from my new family. I'd love to go for a daily walk with you. And a little place of my own in the family room while we all watch tv or just hang out sounds like heaven. I've heard some dogs have their very own dog bed. That sounds really sweet! I love everyone I meet, so that includes you, you know? And I have lived with other dogs before, but I don't really have a desire to live with a hyper young dog at this point in my life. I'd be fine as your only dog, especially if that means extra attention!

I'm getting my second chance at a happy life and I intend to make the most of it! My goal is to be the most loyal companion you've ever had. Just give me a chance.

Love from Sam
