Oh my goodness, you startled me! I haven't had the easiest time with people in the past, so I can be a bit jumpy sometimes. It's not that I don't like you - honest! - it's just that I'm a bit shy, and get nervous around new people. I may not come up to you when you walk by my kennel, but I keep hoping that one day the perfect person will see how much love I have to give. I may not be the best on a leash, and I probably won't go crazy for a tennis ball right away, but with some love and understanding I know you can help me be the best dog I can be.
Dogs like me have a harder time trusting new people, so you will need to go slow with me at first. Introducing me to other friendly dogs might help me come out of my shell, and patience, patience, patience is the key to helping me learn to trust again. I don't mean to be stubborn; I just don't always understand what you need me to do. Some obedience classes might help me gain some confidence and help us get to know one another better! I'm super sweet and want nothing more than a family that loves me, but since I've never experienced that, I'm not quite sure how it all works. Do you think you could show me?

Hello, my name is Yukiko (you-kee-koe) but you can call me Kiko for short. My name means "snow child" because the family that brought me here to Wayside found me outside their door during the first big snowfall in Kansas City this winter. They told me that with my sweet personality I should have no problem finding a new family. I'm hoping they were right about that.
I am an 8 year old grey domestic shorthair. A daily brush is great with me and I even purred all through the manicure I had earlier this week when my nails needed trimming. I love to be held and I am very friendly, so I would make a great lap cat for someone who likes to snuggle as much as I do. And I'll share a little secret with you- I like to tuck my nose in the crook of your elbow and snuggle in nice and tight.
The last things I'd like to have please is a soft cushion somewhere, a window to look out of, and love- that should do it. Do you think you could do that for me? Okay, here I am. Come and get me!

Hi there everyone! Penguin here, a 2 year old Dalmatian mix. I am smart, athletic, handsome,
proud, and strong. And unfortunately I'm currently homeless. So I am looking for a new home
to call my own. Hopefully my beautiful picture caught your eye and you're on way down to
Wayside Waifs now to meet me!
I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter that didn't have space for me. I'm happy
to be here and am making the best of my time, getting to know as many people as possible. I
love people and am very social.
One of my favorite things to do here is to go for walks with the volunteers! I'm an
energetic guy and I'm just so happy to get out in the fresh air. I'm smart, focused, and I
love my doggie treats, so training me should be a cinch. I've never been trained before, so
I would absolutely love to experience that with you. I promise to try my best to make you
proud! In my new home, besides training, I'm looking for regular exercise and mental
stimulation. I'm eager to please you and I want to be a true member of the family, so my
goal is to be the best possible dog I can be.
Please don't pass me by. I just need a chance to show you what a good boy I can be. I'm fun
and friendly and playful. And I'm just so excited to meet you that I can hardly stand it! So
